TAKE TIME

"...to disconnect from your phones and reconnect with nature, people, yourself and our Creator. 🙏🏼 Last week we ventured off to Bolivia where we explored some of the most incredible scenery I have ever experienced. It felt like I was in a National Geographic documentary. We even saw giant ants that carry leaves on their backs! It was breathtaking! We got hot, we got sticky, I'm covered in a million bites and have what some may call an awful tan. I didn't go to a glamorous place and I wore the same @lululemon shorts and regular t-shirt with ugly Costco hiking shoes, and you know what? It was amazing! We swam in a river with red sand, swung from tree vines, and screamed off the mountain tops.
Once that adventure closed and another began, we hopped in the back of old Indiana Jones looking trucks, covered in tarps, crossed several rivers with no bridges and trekked our way into the jungle. There we began our mission. To disconnect from technology, connect with new people, discover their culture, their ways and share God's love. We showered some nights, while not on others because it was simply too cold to fathom the thought of a cold shower. We drank water from a well and washed our clothes by hand. We helped build a clinic and I used tools I saw my dad use for years everyday at work. Not once had I even touched them, but now I have! 😂 Took long enough dad, didn't it?
Do something out of your comfort zone."

Next up... San Telmo

Time to think...

"I got bullied. A lot. I was told I wasn't good enough, put down, picked last. There were days in elementary I'd get to school and rush straight to the bathroom, fold paper towel and put it under my armpits in my shirt. I was so nervous some days I didn't know how else to hide the sweat. Back then, I had the notion that I would get over it, it happens, it's ok and life goes on. Well life did go on, but I realize today, more than ever how much of an impact bullying has on an individual, how much it affected me, how much it still affects me. I never willingly participated in sports because I was too scared to even try, too afraid I'd be made fun of, again. In high school, I faked having a period for almost a month because I was too afraid to participate and fail at basketball. It was a pattern, being too afraid to even try. So I went through so much of my life short of breath climbing the stairs, weak, embarrassed, feeling afraid. It was a challenge. It wasn't until college that I finally gained courage to work out, even if the gym was full and I felt all eyes were judging me. Of course not all were. And even if they were it didn't matter. I did it for me.*"

My apologies, it's been a while!

If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don't here's the link ;) @BrendaWasylucha), you'll know that we just recently returned from S. America. First stop was, Bolivia. We went there to build a clinic in the jungle. We also got the chance to explore Inca ruins at El Fuerte de Samaipata, and hike its surrounding mountains.

We finished our trip in the gorgeous city of Buenos Aires. With its beautiful architecture, charming streets, lively culture and our INCREDIBLE room, we definitely fell in love. Some of our favorite highlights in the city were Bartola restaurant in Recoleta, La Boca, San Telmo market, Teatro Colon and La Piazzolla, where we watched the famous Argentinian Tango.

We loved what we've seen in S. America so far, and plan on going back soon. Next, we want to explore Peru (where we had a layover and enjoyed such AMAZING food) and Costa Rica.

Until next time,

Brenda xx
